So I sit here on a Tuesday night kid free~ I thought I would really enjoy the time alone but I come to realize that I miss Nate. See Nate has left me for four nights and five days. The 5th graders at his school took a trip up north~ like 4 hours away~ This trip is an educational trip for the students. This is the first time that we have been apart for this long. I leave him 1x a year for my yearly girlz weekend but he is at home with grandma and grandpa. Well this trip he is with about 85 other kids, no contact~ yep, no contact~ that is extremely hard. The kids were not allowed to bring electronics, so no cell phones. Things must be going ok because I haven't received a call from them telling me I need to come get him.
What really got me was that he was so excited to go that he didn't even say goodbye to me. As we were pulling up to school I started to cry~ he asked me " mom are you crying" and I said no~ he's like yes you are and I told him I would stop before we got to school~ which I did. So we get to school and I find it very unorganized!~ he had to go into school to grab a packet and then just get on a bus~ just get on a bus are you kidding me~ how do they know they aren't leaving anyone behind ?Let me tell you that was my fear~ see he went into school, checked in, and got on a bus~ not even a goodbye. So yes I freaked out in a hardcore way. I ran from each bus until I found him~ then I wanted to get a picture and he held his head down~ his friends didn't seem to mind getting their picture taken~ they actually begged me to take one.
I can't wait for this trip to be over, for him to come home on Friday and to hear his stories and get his pictures developed. I sent him with 2 disposal cameras that I hope he uses. I sent him 2 letters while he has been there and in one letter I told him he better use them! I want to see what he did while he was up there. When I get them I will be glad to share them.
So just few more days for me to wait it out~ I really hope Friday comes soon.

You are to cute.... I would be the same as any mother would. I first big trip that your child is taking without you. Come Saturday it will be back to normal...LOL

Ahhhhhh!!! having experienced this myself for the 1st time 3 years ago, this too shall pass and you'll be just fine. I'm sure Nate didn't want to cry on the outside but his heart was pouring out "mom i'm going to leave you for a while but i'll be back!" :) hang in there and u can certainly call me (although i can't replace your kid) but i'll be there for ya! Missy
You wuss!! No Im kidding, I was the same way, It was like they just took his bag, chucked it in the bottom of the bus & he headed up the stairs! No goodbye kisses, no waves, his friends were more important! It gets better!! Hang in there, You got one more day :)
